World's Only Corn Palace

They missed a gold opportunity to put up an "Under Corn-struction" sign.

The worlds biggest, smallest and only corn palace is a big souvenir shop with corn imprinted items to purchase. Maybe we are weird but we all left having spent twenty bucks a piece and took funny corn pictures.

I rated it higher than it probably deserves. If you have a sense of humor, you should go. My family had a lot of fun simply cracking jokes at the Corn Palace's expense. I really have no idea why it's a must see for any other reason.... A fun tip though: There's a FANTASTIC cupcake shop just down the street. On the way home, I kept teasing my son (who called the CP the stupidest place on earth) that we were going back to the Corn Palace to revel in it's majesty once again, when in reality I just really wanted another cupcake....unfortunately it was closed on Sundays.

Kinda of a fun stop if only to see the artwork on the outside of the building done in corn cobs. We were fortunate to see the artists/workers as they were creating one of the art pieces, it's like a giant paint-by-numbers picture done completely out of corn cobs. Fun!

There's no other place like the Mitchell Corn Palace in the world, if only because there is no other corn palace in the world. The Corn Palace is one of those random places you've just kind of got to see if you're ever traveling through a state like South Dakota. Mitchell also makes for a good stopping place if you're driving on I-90 in between Rapid City and Sioux Falls.

You didn’t ask for it, but here it is, a place made with corn. It was pretty cool. It’s a bit off the highway but worth the trip.

Cool Place to stop and stretch your legs. Whole family thought it was neat.

Basically an auditorium/ basketball court with some corn art on the outside. It seems to be under construction and is not as elaborate as shown in this picture on RTs. There's a gift shop and some type of Bible museum for kids across the street. If you really need a break from the interstate it's a bit of a diversion. They have two nice displays--one of the history of the corn palace and farming heartland of America and then another with some neat sketches of corn art designs by the preeminent designer. There's a concession stand but only food with corn is popcorn?! At least it's free. They do have some events which might be worth going to if they align with your schedule.

Art was pretty impressive, spent a little time there but was a neat experience for all of us.

This is a great attraction we have stopped at a number of times. Good place to get out and stretch your legs when on a road trip along I-90. Free attraction and lots of history and old pictures. Lots of shopping near by as well. Worth the stop!
