The Boiling River is created where a large hot spring enters the Gardner River, allowing the hot and cool waters to mix into a temperature comfortable enough to bathe in. The natural hot tub makes a great place to stop and relax while soaking in the warm water and soaking up the natural beauty of Yellowstone.

Yes!! This place is so cool! Be very careful getting close to the small waterfalls as the water is literally boiling hot! Find an area where the cold meets the hot and go downstream to feel the warm water! Its awesome

You have to try this. We were in Yellowstone for 2 days and this was one of our favorite things. The sights are beautiful and breath taking and being able to sit in a warm spring and play with our kids (and tire them out) was so worth the drive from the west entrance. We saw lots of Elk in Mammoth on our way - and ate at the Fireside Grill on our way back to camp. A great end to our trip to Yellowstone.

The hot springs are awesome to sit in, I felt like a new person after soaking about an hour.

Located inside Yellowstone National Park, Boiling River is a unique hot spring for two reasons. First and foremost, it’s one of the few hot springs inside the national park that you can legally soak in. Secondly, the Boiling River has a constant mist rolling off its waters, creating a mystical ambiance for travelers to enjoy.

Boiling River is open seasonally when water is at a safe level. When visiting, you can expect comfortably cool temperatures, because the scalding 140-degree hot spring water mixes with water from the Gardner River.

Keep in mind that finding a parking space can prove difficult in peak season, so plan your visit accordingly.

We think it's one of the best hot springs in Montana!

This was an experience that I will remember for a long time. My wife and 3 kids hung out in the water for an hour or so. Really fun, only have moisturizer cream because the sulfur really dried out our skin. And it would probably be a good idea to rinse off.

It was closed when we went to YS due to higher water (July, 2017) but I've heard nothing but great and cool things from those that have been.
