The fact that this is a simple, basic little piece of kitschy Americana makes it even more worth visiting. It’s just off I-90 and it’s free to visit, so it’s a great leg-stretch kind of stop. There isn’t much to see other than the weathered, old-school dinosaur statues, but there’s no reason not to stop and take a photo on your way to Deadwood, either.
Dinosaur Park is a tourist attraction in Rapid City, South Dakota, United States. Dedicated on May 22, 1936, it contains seven dinosaur sculptures on a hill overlooking the city, created to capitalize on the tourists coming to the Black Hills to see Mount Rushmore. Constructed by the city of Rapid City and the Works Progress Administration, WPA Project #960's dinosaurs were designed by Emmet Sullivan. Sullivan also designed the Apatosaurus (formerly Brontosaurus) at Wall Drug nearby in Wall, South Dakota, the Christ of the Ozarks statue in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and the dinosaurs at the now closed Dinosaur World in Beaver, Arkansas. The park is located at 940 Skyline Drive and is maintained by the city of Rapid City. Admission is free, however steep flagstone stairs may limit handicapped accessibility. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 1990.

Those dinosaurs have such a quirky, old fashioned quality, they are totally worth the detour. Plus, you'll get an awesome view of Rapid City and, on especially clear days, of the Black Hills and sometimes as far as the Badlands!
My kids had so much fun at this little quirky park. The views of Rapid City are notable, but really, its all about the dinos.
This was campy, antiquated, and a pure delight. Definitely stop for the photo op.
Drive not recommended for larger RV's or campers - windy, steep incline. Park was okay, with kids, sure they would enjoy.
Rapid City is a great town and the dinosaurs are a must see. #bodness

The Dinosaurs are a little worn but still in good shape. The views are incredible and worth the trip alone.
It is a steep hike up a couple of flights of stairs but they are pretty cool especially for our dinosaur loving 2 year old.
